Inclusiveness as a key determinant of work engagement: evidence from V4 countries

Research background: There is currently a need for empirical research regarding the validity of specific work environment model elements supported by strong statistical evidence. The amount conducted in this field has been particularly limited Central-Eastern Europe. desire to fill these gaps was at least part responsible uniqueness approach and its differences from previous similar studies. Purpose article: purpose study examine factors affecting employee engagement their relationship with each other using Visegrad countries as an example. Methods: initial data taken fourth European Company Survey (2019) management respondents. After cleaning, sample sizes Czechia, Hungary Poland, Slovakia are N(CZ)=904, N(HU)=682, N(PL)=511, N(SK)=361, respectively. As result exploratory factor analysis (EFA), following five dimensions were identified research: (1) inclusiveness, (2) empowerment, (3) autonomy, (4) organizational learning environment, (5) engagement. An structural equation modeling (SEM) determine links that exist among constructive environment. Findings & value added: indicates inclusiveness empowerment have significant positive impact on all examined. Inclusiveness strongest predictor engagement, followed empowerment. Both two predictors (workplace autonomy environment) generally had less or no effect present extends recent literature empirically validating influence workplace environment-related factors, well providing useful policy recommendations managers.
